UVic pathway brief

Request for
pathway review.
I am seeking advice on the most efficient, academically appropriate pathway to complete BC teacher certification at UVic.
The request
Professional context
Previous study.
Professional preparation.
A pathway forward.
I previously completed the academic coursework for UVic’s Secondary Education Professional Development Program but did not complete the final practicum requirement. Since then, I have built substantial professional experience in communications and project leadership, returned to K–12 education in several support and instructional roles, and undertaken graduate study in Literacy, Language and Learning.
I am asking UVic to review my previous coursework and current academic and professional preparation to determine whether advanced placement, recognition of prior study, or another shortened pathway through the BEd or PDPP may be possible.
Questions
What I am hoping UVic can help determine
What remains—and the most
appropriate route through it.
- 01
Which components of my previous Secondary PDP coursework can still be recognized toward current teacher-education requirements?
- 02
Is there an appropriate route for advanced placement or re-entry into a current BEd/PDPP pathway rather than beginning a teacher-education program again from the start?
- 03
Can my subsequent graduate coursework and current K–12 educational practice be considered when determining the most appropriate completion pathway?
- 04
What would be the shortest academically appropriate route from my current position to BC teacher certification?

These examples are included not as substitutes for teacher-education requirements, but as evidence of the professional learning, classroom practice, resource development, and reflective judgment I have developed since my earlier UVic study.

Where I hope this leads
Certification first.
Graduate study ahead.
My immediate goal is BC teacher certification and a move into classroom teaching. Longer term, I hope to build on my current graduate literacy work toward a master’s degree in education.
I would be grateful for UVic’s advice on a pathway that recognizes previous study where appropriate while ensuring I complete the professional requirements necessary to enter teaching well prepared.
